I've had this image in my head for the past 6 months, but haven't been able to pull all of the pieces together until now. I had my neighbor (and his Kubota tractor) help me move our old piano into the woods by our house. The dress was just as difficult a project. I'd been searching for a red ball gown that fit what I was looking for and happened upon this one online. It turned out even more beautiful in person. My good friend Vanessa volunteered her daughter Karrah as a model for the project, and she was perfect. And so amazing to work with!
It was around 45 degrees outside and windy. I was afraid Karrah might turn blue, but she never complained once. JP helped me with the lights and fog machine, and Vanessa helped keep Karrah's hair and makeup looking perfect.
For the setup I used two strobes. One clamped to a tree which ended up as my "moon" in the shot. The other was on a stand with an umbrella. On some shots I removed the umbrella to get a little more dramatic lighting. I shot wide open at 1.8 with my 50mm lens with shutter speed 160-200.
I'm so excited to see my vision become a reality! Now onto my next idea...stay tuned ;-)
